You know what I don’t understand…?

WHY DO THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP SPAMMING MY WEB SITE WITH LAVISH COMPLIMENTS LACKING ANY DETAIL OR SPECIFIC REFERENCE TO WHAT I’M DOING THINK I’M GOING TO FALL FOR THEIR BLANDISHMENTS AND LINK TO THEIR SITES, POST THEIR COMMENTS OR OTHERWISE ENGAGE WITH  THEM??? Does anyone fall for this stuff?

AND YES, I DO KNOW THAT WRITING IN ALL CAPS ON A WEB SITE IS YELLING. IF I HAD MY WAY, I’D BE STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT THESE PEOPLE,  SHOUTING THIS AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS: QUIT WASTING MY TIME AND TRYING TO POACH MY READERS.

And, readers, if you ever see a comment on this site that’s not about food (or, I admit, cats) or that doesn’t seem germaine to the issues I’ve been raising or the recipes I’m running, ignore it. And don’t e-mail or link to the site in question.

Thank you. The preceding was an unpaid, unsolicited, mind-relieving announcement. More on food tomorrow.

And cat lovers: I’m sure I’m the last one on the planet to stumble across this book, but I’m reading “Dewey,” the “Marley” of the cat world, about a beloved cat who lives in an Iowa library. Stumbled across it while visiting a dying friend and spent the night and half the day reading it while sitting with her. My friend, who is in her last hours and loves cats, would approve.
